Harvest Time!

I had my first major pea harvest last weekend. They were delicious.

I've grabbed another 15 or so since then. Fresh. Crispy. Even a little sweet. Damn, that's good.

The pea crop will be ending soon. I will be sad. How can I go back to grocery store vegetables after having them just picked? Everything else tastes like green rubber bands.

Not That She Can Read the Label Anyway...

No, you can't have any of my banana. Sorry Pups.

See this sticker? That says "organic". It means "too expensive to give to dogs".

Parenthood Update

We're 7.5 months into our little parenthood experiment. So far, so good.

I think I've aged 5 years in that time. You never really have a chance to get caught up on sleep with an infant.

Everyone is back at work. Little Man is off at daycare during the day. Contrary to the opinion of a very vocal segment of the parenting population, putting your child in daycare does NOT make you a bad parent. Little Man seems to enjoy himself. And he gets more social interaction than we could possibly give him at home.

Daycare germs? Yeah, he's brought back a few. He got sent home once with pinkeye (I'm not going to lie to you... it was kinda gross). And he came down with an ear infection one Sunday (that may or may not have been daycare related). According to other parent's we've talked to with kids in daycare, they come down with a lot at first. Then by the time they're in grade school, their immune systems are bullet proof.

I wish I had more time to spend at home. I miss my "Daddy Wednesdays". But we'll be taking a few weeks off this summer and doing some fun stuff. So we've got that to look forward to.

So what's it all it about? Spending time with your family. That's really the best part about having kids. What's that? Oh, right. And the huge tax refund. That too.

At the Liquor Store

"Are you the Beer Guy?"

"Yeah, sure."

"I tried Sam Adams Holiday Porter and really liked it. But it's only a seasonal item and I haven't found anything else I've liked as much since. Do you have any porters you can recommend?"

"Just try a bunch and you'll find something you like."

Um... thanks?

Lotsa help there, Beer Guy.
