We're 7.5 months into our little parenthood experiment. So far, so good.
I think I've aged 5 years in that time. You never really have a chance to get caught up on sleep with an infant.
Everyone is back at work. Little Man is off at daycare during the day. Contrary to the opinion of a very vocal segment of the parenting population, putting your child in daycare does NOT make you a bad parent. Little Man seems to enjoy himself. And he gets more social interaction than we could possibly give him at home.
Daycare germs? Yeah, he's brought back a few. He got sent home once with pinkeye (I'm not going to lie to you... it was kinda gross). And he came down with an ear infection one Sunday (that may or may not have been daycare related). According to other parent's we've talked to with kids in daycare, they come down with a lot at first. Then by the time they're in grade school, their immune systems are bullet proof.
I wish I had more time to spend at home. I miss my "Daddy Wednesdays". But we'll be taking a few weeks off this summer and doing some fun stuff. So we've got that to look forward to.
So what's it all it about? Spending time with your family. That's really the best part about having kids. What's that? Oh, right. And the huge tax refund. That too.
