Daddy Wednesdays: Week Two

Both of us have been dressed and fed, so we'll count that as a success. I even got a shower in this morning.

Daddy Wednesday

The first Daddy Wednesday went really well. Spending time with your kid is a good feeling. Also, nobody got hurt.

When he's in a good mood, Little Man is a ton of fun. I was never really that excited by babies before we had one of our own (maybe other people's babies just aren't as interesting as ours), so I'm kinda surprised by how much I enjoy him. "Super fun happy baby time" is a blast.

The only thing I didn't get to do during the day that I wanted to do was take a shower. I had to wait until Jen got home.

It's also tough to find time in your day for healthy eating when you're a "single parent". Rather than sit down for a meal at some point, I found myself racing around and grabbing a snack whenever I could.

I think Daisy was glad to have me around, too. I'm sure she'd still like a little more attention, but I can tell things are getting easier for her because she's finally at the point where she can ignore Little Man when she's in the room with him. Little Man doesn't take up all her attention when they're together. Maybe he just gets a quick toe kiss instead of a full body sniffing.

I can't wait until I can take them both out in the back yard and play with them. Then they can tire each other out while I sit at watch. Hooray!

Weather Update

I didn't walk Daisy this morning.

Cesar Milan would not be pleased.

Screw him. He lives in L.A.

It was a freeze-your-nuts-off 9 degrees here this morning.

Damn.

Hot Moms

"So you're easily the hottest mom in the neighborhood."

"OK."

"The only mom that's even close is Jared's mom."

"Um, thanks."
Ummm... Huh?

There's a bar in Pawtucket that turns into a huge Oakland Raider fan hangout on Sundays. There was even some kind of Raider helmet eating a Chargers flag outside on the door.

I usually have no reason to go out on Sundays, so I never would have caught this. But since the Patriots were already done for the week, I was out running a few errands. I didn't actually go into the bar (it being The Bucket and all), I just parked at the bank across the street and hit the ATM.

There were big groups of people in Raiders gear streaming in. And packs of them sitting outside smoking in threes.

What the hell?

Are there other 4 - 12 teams out there that inspire adults to dress up for games at the complete opposite ends of the country?

Are there that many Oakland transplants out here who just HAVE to follow their team every week?

Maybe we could open up an Arizona Cardinals bar.
