Dear Old Guy from the Golf Course Peeing on the Side of the Tree,

Maybe you'd be better off peeing on the other side of the tree near the golf course. Sure, your golf buddies might goof on you. But they probably won't call the cops on you. You're about 100 feet away from an elementary school on this side of the tree.

Just letting you know.

Sincerely,

Pat

When little plastic flamingos aren't enough to piss off the neighbors, go with the inflatable six foot version.

This was in a pretty nice part of town, too.

Please Pardon Our Appearance...

For those of you who haven't been back to Providence in a while, here's a few pictures of some of the recent construction:

I have no idea who's going to buy all these condos.

Television

These are the most important shows of the last 10 years:

- The Sopranos
- The Wire
- Deadwood
- South Park
- Arrested Development
- Lost

I would listen to arguments for "Chappelle's Show" or the British version of "The Office".

But that's it.
TiVo, How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways...

We've had TiVo for about six months now. I love it. It really does change the way you watch TV.

The beauty of TiVo can be broken down into four parts:

A) Pausing during live sporting events. For a sports fan, this alone is enough to justify the cost. The first time I paused a football game to take the dog out, and saw a kick return for a touchdown that I would have otherwise missed, I was hooked.

B) Seeing shows I wouldn't otherwise get to see. I never would have gone out of my way to watch a show like "30 Rock" without TiVo, but now I'm hooked. It's excellent. There's also a ton of good movies that TCM shows overnight.

C) Watching shows when I've got the time. I was pissed off when the moved "Lost" to 10. I'm usually in bed by 10:30. Now I can just watch it the next day.

D) Seeing MORE shows because I'm zipping through commercials. If I've got three house of television time on the weekend, I can now get through about 4 hours of actual TV time because I'm not sitting there through the commercials. Excellent!

After six months of living with TiVo, I don't think I could ever go back to not having it. It's that good.

...In Bed

Daisy has been jumping up to see what's on the counter an awful lot lately.

We had Chinese food one night last week. I left the two pieces of paper from the fortune cookies on the counter. I came back a few minutes later and there was only one on the counter.

I'm pretty sure Daisy ate this missing one.

The fortune?

"You will travel to interesting places."

If only that fortune knew how right it was.
Gardening Report

It's nice to have a yard. I'm kinda surprised by how much I'm enjoying the whole gardening and landscaping thing. I've been out there almost every night cleaning up the back yard and getting the garden ready over the last few weeks. (Well, I was... at least until I got poison ivy... then I cut myself and needed stitches... but that's a different story...)

The onions, broccoli and spinach are in the ground. I couldn't wait any longer. But now I'm worried we may get get a little frost later in the week.

The pumpkins and sunflowers are still on the back porch. Maybe I'll get them in the ground next week.

Pictures coming soon.

Dogs at Work

There's a piggy under my desk.
Just wondering...

Has anyone else ever considered buying a multi-family house and not renting out the other unit? Surely, I can't be the only one who has thought about having two kitchens.
